This Goes Out to You, and You, and You...

A couple weeks ago it was the anniversary of the death of the greatest rapper ever-Biggie. It's hard to believe it's been 14 years already, and it's even harder to believe that the dude was only 24 years old. I guess it's because I was only 17 at the time, and he was so larger than life, but it's easy to forget he was so young.

I've been considering branching out from painting athletes for a while, into musicians. With the anniversary of my man B.I.G's death, I was inspired to use him as the subject of my first music themed painting.

Originally the background was going to be plain red, with a little red mixed into the figure as an accent, but after the first day of working on it, I was inspired with a better idea for it. It took a lot of time of the past couple days but I was able to change it into the "red and black lumberjack" pattern immortalized by the man in "Juicy". Plus, as anyone who knows me will tell you, I love rocking the plaid, so it was a lot of fun to paint it.
Obviously, I'm only about halfway done at this point, should be finished sometime next week.

What do you think? How should I handle his chain? I'm thinking a metallic gold, do you think silver would work better? What's your favorite Frank White song? Are you a Tupac fan, and disagree that Biggie's the best ever?

  2. SO sick!! The plaid is awesome and Biggie is definitely looking like you said, "larger than life"! Well done, can't wait to see the finished product.
